Description
The idea of this small book is to put together, in one place, a collection of some of the radical essays on science and technology so as to highlight some of the dangers inherent in the blind trust we place in science and scientific experts. There is a blind faith in Science which runs throughout modernity and which needs to be criticized. This little book, it is hoped, can help stimulate the continuing analysis and critique of modern science from a left wing anarchist viewpoint. Some of the essays, radical in their time, may be dated in their language but they were irreverent and open and it is this sentiment that we try to stress here.
The book brings together a number of essays which include an essay on Chernobyl from the French publication L’Encyclopedie des Nuisances by Jaime Semprum. It includes the essay And Yet It Moves by Boy Igor from 1989 which is now out of print. Paul Feyerabend ‘s essay on How to Defend Society against Science. There is an essay on Big Brother and CCTV surveillance as well as extracts from Michael Bakunin’s essay on Science & Authority .
